Finally got back on the bike again, and legs felt great. Nice to get them spinning and alive.
Diet went well today. Current weight is 145. Lunch: one bag of brussel sprouts and a can of Coke; about 600 calories. For dinner, two soy burgers, some almonds, and a glass of wine, about 600 calories again. Total today, roughly 1600 calories.
Tomorrow, back to zero. Hopefully will get a good run in for about hour. I cant wait to be able to swim again!!!

Question: With all the training, why is your diet so meager (1600 calories)? I would think with the excess of activity, you'd need to eat more calories - or are you trying to shed a few pounds before starting a higher calorie diet as the training ramps up?
ReplyDeleteExactly. Prior to the Ironman, training entered a taper period where the effort and time in training went way down. For the prior 7 months, Ive been used to like 3000 calories a day, so its really hard to not gain any weight prior to the start of the race. After the race, you go into an even more laid back time. So since, the race, Ive gained back about 5-8 pounds, and Im only now starting to ramp up training again. Once Im back to full effort, I will settle into a more robust, but still healthy, diet.
