The final pieces are now done. Took my bike to the transition area for bike check in and found my spot in the racks. Its a little ceremony Ive been waiting to do for eight months. Felt great to actually see my bike in place ready to go. After that, dropped my bags off with my equipment, and did a run through of the transition area layout. With 2000 people all full of adrenalin, finding your way to your bag and the right changing tents can be difficult.
Weather is looking less than ideal tomorrow, but better than predicted earlier in the week. Mid 60's, partly cloudy, and a 30% chance of rain in the PM right when I will be going from bike to run.
And now, its just a matter of waiting. Tomorrow, Im up at 2:00am for a bite to eat. Then some more sleep until 5:00am when we have body marking. After that, back to my room to change into my game face. 7:00, it begins.
Every minute of tomorrow has been planned for months. Im starting in the back of the swim to avoid getting kicked in the face. Also starting back right, as it is a left hand turn buoy, and the inside of the turn tends to get congested. Should be out of the water between 8:20 - 8:30. 2 - 5 minutes in transition. On bike, first 1.5 hours I will go easy, taking time to fuel myself and warm up. After that, its steady pace until the end. Expect 7:00 bike section. Will fuel with my Infinit nutrition formula at one bottle per hour. Each bottle has 270 calories mixed with some additives like caffeine. Will also take in a small pack of fig newtons and a can of Red Bull in at mile 62. 2-5 minutes in transition. Out for the run. Will run straight and slow for six miles. Then, will run steady between water stops, and walk the aid stations. Will continue until mile 18, when I will pick up the pace as much as I can. With some luck, I will finish after about 14 hours, or around 9:00 pm here.
For now, I wait and rest.
